Dallas Convention Center Hotel

On September 15, 2009, the City of Dallas broke ground on the new Dallas Convention Center Hotel. City-owned, the new 1000-room hotel will directly connect to the Dallas Convention Center. The project is being developed by Matthews Southwest and will be operated by Omni Hotels.

The Balfour/Russell/Pegasus Joint Venture (BRP JV) Project Team has made great strides to construct the $328 million, 23-story Dallas Convention Center Hotel (DCCH). This state-of-the-art hotel is quickly becoming a prominent landmark in the downtown Dallas skyline. From a distance, you can see the hotel tower and the roofs of the combined 48,000-square-foot junior and grand ballrooms of the hotel. Up close, you can see the finer features of the hotel taking shape, including the unique rooftop pool and the 150-foot long pedestrian skybridge connecting the hotel to the Dallas Convention Center. In addition, the Dallas Convention Center Hotel has attained the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Silver Certification, deeming the project a city leader in environmental standards.

Currently BRP, Omni Hotels, and Matthews Southwest are working to complete the inside of the hotel for the fast approaching opening date. BRP is putting the final touches on the guestrooms, which will feature floor-to-ceiling windows, contemporary furnishings, walk-in showers, and a hidden TV in the vanity mirror. In addition, over 7,000 pieces of artwork created exclusively by DFW-area artists grace the walls of guestrooms and public areas. As the inside of the hotel nears completion, BRP is working closely with Omni Hotels to identify capable and qualified local minority and women-owned businesses for the operation and maintenance of the hotel once it is open. Construction for the hotel is on schedule and is expected to open November 11, 2011.
